The DMC DeLorean remains one of the most recognizable sports coupes of its era, defined by its distinctive low-slung shape and rear-engine layout. Its naturally aspirated 2.8-liter V6 produces 130 hp and 153 lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through either a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. In 1981–1982, the DeLorean delivered a 9.2-second 0–60 mph time and reached a 127 mph top speed, giving its dramatic styling a suitably sporting character.
Underneath, the DeLorean uses double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension with solid disc brakes at both ends. It rides on 195/60R14 front and 235/60R15 rear tyres, while its 2,718-pound curb weight helps maintain a relatively focused two-seat sports-car character. The cabin provides 14 ft³ of luggage space, and the 13.6-gallon fuel tank supports a listed combined economy of 18.8 mpg and a 253-mile total range.
