1991–1994 Alpine A610 Turbo Specs & Performance

The 1991–1994 Alpine A610 Turbo marked a major step forward for Alpine, developing the GTA formula into a more sophisticated and powerful grand tourer. Its rear-mounted 2.975-liter PRV V6 gained a Garrett turbocharger and produced 250 hp and 350 Nm, with a five-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. The result was serious performance for its era, with a factory-quoted 0–100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds and a 265 km/h top speed. Its revised structure and improved equipment also made it a more mature proposition than the model it replaced.

Despite that extra sophistication, the A610 retained Alpine's distinctive lightweight, rear-engined character. A steel backbone chassis, independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes helped keep the coupe composed, while the low-slung fiberglass body preserved the visual character that set Alpine apart from more conventional sports cars. Only a small number were produced, reinforcing its rarity today. The A610 Turbo therefore stands as an important final chapter in Alpine's classic rear-engined sports-car lineage, combining unusual engineering, genuine performance and long-distance comfort in a package that remained unmistakably French.
