The Mazda Xedos 9 Miller Cycle was one of Mazda’s most technically distinctive luxury sedans of the 1990s, combining understated styling with an unusual supercharged V6 powertrain. Its large four-door body and five-seat cabin gave it a comfortable executive character, while the front-wheel-drive layout and transverse engine helped maintain a practical mechanical package. The Miller Cycle engine was the defining feature, giving the Xedos 9 an innovative approach to improving efficiency without sacrificing the smooth performance expected from a larger luxury sedan.
The 1996–2000 Mazda Xedos 9 Miller Cycle uses a supercharged 2.3-liter V6 producing 207 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 9.2 seconds and 0–62 mph taking 9.5 seconds. Top speed reaches 143 mph, giving the Xedos 9 a distinctive combination of innovative engineering, refined comfort and respectable performance.
