The Proton Perdana V6 brought a more refined and powerful character to Proton’s medium-sedan lineup, combining understated styling with the smooth delivery of a six-cylinder engine. Its elongated four-door body, spacious five-seat cabin, and conventional boot made it suited to family travel and comfortable everyday journeys. Front-wheel drive kept the layout practical, while multi-link suspension at both ends was designed to support composed road manners. Positioned above the smaller models in Proton’s range, the Perdana V6 offered a more substantial driving experience without abandoning the usability expected of a traditional sedan.
For the 1999–2005 range, the Perdana V6 used a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre, 24-valve DOHC V6 producing 148 hp at 6,750 rpm and 132 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. A four-speed automatic transmission delivered power to the front wheels. Its reported top speed of 127 mph and 0–60 mph acceleration time of 12.6 seconds gave it relaxed rather than sporting performance. The sedan weighed 3,031 lbs and returned a listed combined fuel economy of 31.4 mpg. With four doors, seating for five, and a 16.9-gallon fuel tank, the Perdana V6 combined six-cylinder refinement with the practicality of a conventional family sedan.
