The 9ff GT9-R is an extreme Porsche-based supercar developed to challenge the upper limits of high-speed performance. Its carbon-fibre and Kevlar body panels, extended aerodynamic profile and low-slung proportions distinguish it from the standard Porsche 911 on which its engineering is based. A steel unitary chassis supports the lightweight bodywork, while the rear-mid-engine layout keeps the powertrain close to the driven wheels. Developed by German specialist 9ff, the GT9-R combines extensive mechanical modifications with a design focused on stability and performance at exceptionally high speeds.
Introduced in 2009, the GT9-R uses a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre flat-six engine producing 1,105 hp at 8,150 rpm and 774 lb-ft of torque at 6,200 rpm. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Its claimed 0–62 mph acceleration time of 2.9 seconds and 257 mph top speed demonstrate the extraordinary performance targeted by this limited-production supercar, which weighs approximately 3,208 pounds.
