The 9ff GT9 is a highly specialised supercar developed from Porsche 911 GT3 foundations, but its engineering departs significantly from the original car. Its carbon-fibre and Kevlar body panels, low roofline and reshaped proportions give it a distinctive appearance, while relocating the engine to a rear-mid position creates a different mechanical balance. A lightweight steel chassis supports the construction, and the two-seat cabin reflects the car's focus on performance rather than everyday practicality. Developed by German tuning specialist 9ff, the GT9 was conceived to challenge established supercars at exceptionally high speeds.
Produced during 2007–2008, the GT9 uses a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre flat-six engine producing 973 hp at 7,850 rpm and 711 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. Power reaches the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Its claimed 0–62 mph acceleration time of 3.2 seconds and 254 mph top speed highlight its extreme performance ambitions, while a curb weight of 2,923 pounds contributes to its impressive power-to-weight ratio.
