The Reva G-Wiz L-ion represents an early approach to electric urban mobility, combining a compact micro-hatchback design with a lithium-ion battery system intended to improve the practicality of everyday electric travel. Its narrow body, short dimensions and simple exterior make it well suited to crowded streets and restricted parking spaces. Rather than offering the refinement or performance of a conventional passenger car, it prioritises manoeuvrability, straightforward operation and efficient use of space. The L-ion version distinguishes itself from earlier G-Wiz models through its lighter battery technology, reflecting an important step in the evolution of small electric vehicles.
Produced from 2009 to 2012, the G-Wiz L-ion uses an electric motor producing 19 hp, supported by a 9.36 kWh battery pack. Its direct-drive transmission sends power to the rear wheels, while MacPherson strut front suspension and trailing-arm rear suspension support its compact construction. With a top speed of 50 mph and a stated range of 74 miles, it is best suited to short urban journeys rather than sustained motorway travel. Its modest power output, lightweight design and battery-powered drivetrain define its character as an early electric microcar.
