The Reva G-Wiz represents an early attempt to make electric mobility accessible for everyday urban travel. Developed by Indian manufacturer Reva, this compact micro hatchback features a narrow body, short overhangs and a simple design intended to navigate congested streets and fit into restricted parking spaces. Its lightweight construction and straightforward electric powertrain prioritise low-speed convenience over performance, luxury or long-distance touring. With its small footprint and uncomplicated layout, the G-Wiz offers a distinctive example of how manufacturers approached practical electric transportation before modern electric cars became widely established.
Produced from 2001 to 2007, the G-Wiz uses an electric motor producing 16 hp, supported by a 9.6 kWh battery pack. Its direct-drive transmission sends power to the rear wheels, while MacPherson strut front suspension and trailing-arm rear suspension support its compact construction. With a top speed of 50 mph and a stated range of 48 miles, it is best suited to short urban journeys rather than motorway travel. Its modest power output, simple electric drivetrain and compact dimensions define its practical character.
