The Smart Fortwo BRABUS brings a sportier character to the compact two-seat hatchback, combining its tiny footprint with turbocharged performance. Its three-door body and rear-mounted engine distinguish it from conventional small cars, while the rear-wheel-drive layout gives it a distinctive mechanical configuration. With seating for two and just 5.3 cubic feet of luggage space, it is best suited to city driving, short trips, and drivers who value compact dimensions over passenger or cargo capacity. The BRABUS specification adds stronger performance while retaining the practical advantages of a small urban car.
For the 2005–2006 model range, the Fortwo BRABUS uses a turbocharged 0.7-litre inline-three gasoline engine with a single overhead camshaft, six valves, and multi-point fuel injection. It produces 74 hp at 5,250 rpm and 81 lb-ft of torque at 2,500 rpm, paired with a six-speed transmission driving the rear wheels. AutoSpecsHub lists a top speed of 93 mph and 0–60 mph acceleration in 11.9 seconds. Combined fuel economy is rated at 44.4 mpg, with a listed driving range of 386 miles. The chassis features MacPherson strut front suspension, a De Dion rear axle, solid front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes.
