The QX70 5.0 occupies an unusual place in Infiniti’s SUV lineup: its dramatic, low-slung shape looks closer to a performance crossover than a conventional utility vehicle. Underneath that distinctive profile sits a large naturally aspirated V8, giving the QX70 a mechanical character that was becoming increasingly uncommon among luxury SUVs. For 2013–2017, the 5.0-liter model was the range’s performance statement, combining a muscular engine with a road-focused chassis and the practicality of a five-seat SUV.
At its heart is a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 385 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. A seven-speed automatic transmission sends power through all-wheel drive, while the QX70 reaches 155 mph and can accelerate from 0–60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Those figures give the large SUV genuine performance-car pace while preserving the effortless character expected from a naturally aspirated V8.
