The Q70 2.2d brought a smaller diesel engine to Infiniti’s large luxury-sedan formula, creating a version aimed more at efficient long-distance travel than outright performance. That downsized approach was significant because the Q70 retained its substantial proportions and premium character while adopting a four-cylinder diesel beneath the hood. The result was a quieter kind of luxury: strong low-speed torque, relaxed cruising, and a conventional rear-wheel-drive layout without the fuel demands of the larger V6 models. It gave the range a distinctly efficiency-minded alternative.
Power comes from a turbocharged 2.1-liter inline-four diesel producing 168 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with peak torque available from 1,600 rpm. For 2015–2016, that combination gave the large sedan a 134-mph top speed and 8.9-second 0–60 mph time, emphasizing effortless cruising rather than sporting urgency.
