The Agera RS was conceived as a bridge between Koenigsegg’s road cars and the lessons learned from the extreme One:1. It retained the Agera family’s removable hardtop and usable luggage space, but added more advanced lightweight construction, active aerodynamics and a track-oriented chassis. Only 25 examples were produced, giving the RS a particularly important place in Koenigsegg’s history. Its significance grew further in 2017, when an Agera RS achieved an average 277.87 mph over two runs on a public road in Nevada, setting the production-car top-speed record at the time.
For 2015–2018, the Agera RS uses a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 producing 1,160 hp and 940 lb-ft of torque on gasoline. A seven-speed paddle-shift transmission sends power to the rear wheels, while 0–60 mph takes 2.7 seconds. Koenigsegg's official specifications also list a 1,360-hp E85 option and up to 485 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, showing how the RS combined straight-line speed with serious aerodynamic capability.
