The Agera R pushed Koenigsegg’s already radical Agera concept into a more specialized realm, using biofuel capability as part of its performance strategy rather than treating alternative fuel as an afterthought. Its lightweight construction, removable roof and carefully shaped body were complemented by an active rear wing and other aerodynamic features developed to keep the car stable at extreme speeds. The R became one of the defining versions of the Agera family, showing how Koenigsegg could combine road usability with engineering aimed squarely at the limits of high-speed performance.
For 2011–2014, the Agera R uses a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 producing 1,124 hp and 885 lb-ft of torque on E85. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 2.8 seconds and top speed reaching 273 mph. The flex-fuel system also allows the car to run on gasoline, making the extraordinary output adaptable rather than dependent on a single fuel.
