Honda Odyssey Trim Levels: What Each One Adds and Who It Fits
Honda Odyssey trim levels for 2026 and 2027: what the EX-L, Sport-L, Touring, and Elite add, what they cost, and which one fits your family.

The most expensive Honda Odyssey costs $8,900 more than the cheapest one, and it doesn't seat one extra passenger, tow one extra pound, or add a cubic foot of cargo space.
That's the odd thing about Odyssey trim levels. All four share the same 280-hp V6, the same eight seats, and the same Honda Sensing safety suite. What your money buys as you move up is rear-seat technology, parking help, nicer seats, and front-seat comfort.
Whether any of that is worth paying for depends on where your family actually spends its time in the van.
Honda Odyssey Trim Levels and Prices
The 2027 Odyssey comes in four trims. These are Honda's starting prices before destination, taxes, and fees.
Trim | Starting MSRP | Step up | Built for |
|---|---|---|---|
EX-L | $43,195 | Base | Most families |
Sport-L | $44,295 | +$1,100 | Shoppers who want the sportier look |
Touring | $47,895 | +$3,600 | Rear-seat tech and tight parking |
Elite | $52,095 | +$4,200 | Front-seat comfort and premium audio |
If you see LX, EX, or Sport trims listed online, those aren't part of the 2026 or 2027 lineup.
What Every Odyssey Trim Includes
Before comparing trims, it helps to know what you get no matter which one you pick:
Engine: 3.5L V6 making 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque
Transmission: 10-speed automatic with front-wheel drive and a Snow mode
Fuel economy: 19 city, 28 highway, and 22 combined mpg, on regular fuel
Seating: eight seats, with Magic Slide second-row seats and a 60/40 split third row that folds into the floor
Safety: the full Honda Sensing suite
Convenience: power sliding doors, a power tailgate, a moonroof, tri-zone climate control, and heated front seats with a 12-way power driver's seat and memory
Tech: a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and CabinTalk, an in-car PA system
The transmission is a conventional automatic, not a CVT. If you're curious how the two differ, the breakdown of CVT vs. automatic transmission explains it. There is no all-wheel-drive or hybrid Odyssey.
What Each Honda Odyssey Trim Adds
EX-L
The EX-L is the starting point, and there's no stripped-down version to get around it. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, where the other trims have 19s, and it uses HondaTex-trimmed seats for 2027.
It's also one of only two trims with a 12-volt outlet in the third row.
Sport-L
The Sport-L costs $1,100 more and changes mostly the look:
19-inch gloss-black wheels
Sport-L exterior and interior styling
Red-stitched HondaTex seats and red ambient lighting
Two USB-C ports in the third row
Nothing mechanical changes. Power, space, and safety tech match the EX-L.
Touring
The Touring is the biggest equipment jump in the lineup. It adds:
A 12.8-inch rear entertainment screen
CabinWatch, a camera view of the back rows
Front and rear parking sensors
Built-in navigation and Wi-Fi hotspot capability, which needs a subscription
Leather-trimmed seats
A 115-volt outlet and three third-row USB-C ports
Elite
The Elite is a Touring with a more comfortable front seat. It adds:
Ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel
Perforated leather seats
A 500-watt, 11-speaker audio system, replacing the 160-watt system
A hands-free power tailgate
Rain-sensing wipers, plus power-folding and auto-dimming mirrors
Acoustic glass in the front and rear doors
The rear-seat technology is the same as the Touring's.

What You Give Up When You Move Up
Trim ladders aren't always strictly additive. A few details catch shoppers off guard:
Touring and Elite drop the third-row 12-volt outlet. Honda lists it on the EX-L and Sport-L only.
The Sport-L look doesn't carry up. The gloss-black wheels and red accents are exclusive to that trim.
The EX-L has no third-row USB ports. The Sport-L adds two, and the Touring and Elite have three.
Higher trims weigh slightly more. Curb weight runs from 4,526 lbs on the EX-L to 4,590 lbs on the Elite.
Which Odyssey Trim Should You Choose?
Honda's trim ladders tend to hide a few real decisions among a lot of cosmetic ones. On the Accord, for instance, wheel size changes fuel economy between hybrid trims, as the Honda Accord trims comparison shows. On the Odyssey, every trim returns the same 19/28/22 mpg, so the choice comes down to features and price.
For most families, the EX-L is the right answer. It already has everything every trim shares, and Edmunds also recommends it. The rest depend on how you use the van:
Sport-L: pick it if the styling sells you or the kids in the third row need to charge devices.
Touring: pick it if young kids ride in back on long trips, or you park in tight spots every week. The screen, camera, and sensors are what the extra money buys.
Elite: pick it only if you'll use the ventilated seats, heated wheel, and premium audio every day. The Touring already has the family tech for $4,200 less.
2026 vs. 2027: What Changed
Every trim is $400 more for 2027. The 2026 Odyssey started at $42,795 for the EX-L, $43,895 for the Sport-L, $47,495 for the Touring, and $51,695 for the Elite.
The other change is upholstery. The EX-L and Sport-L moved from leather-trimmed seats to HondaTex, while the Touring and Elite stayed leather. Dealers are listing both model years right now, so check which one you're looking at.
Towing and Size
Every trim tows up to 3,500 lbs when properly equipped. If you need to haul something heavier, a three-row SUV like the Highlander is rated up to 5,000 lbs on gas models, as the Highlander towing capacity guide shows.
Size is the same on every trim: 205.2 inches long, 78.5 inches wide, and 69.6 inches tall. It's just over 17 feet long, so measure your garage before you buy.
FAQs
How many trim levels does the Honda Odyssey have?
Four: the EX-L, Sport-L, Touring, and Elite. That's true for both the 2026 and 2027 model years.
What safety features come standard on every Odyssey trim?
Every trim includes collision mitigation braking with pedestrian detection, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Blind Spot Information, Cross Traffic Monitor, and a rear seat reminder are standard too.
Is a minivan better than an SUV for a family?
A minivan usually wins on door access and third-row and cargo space, while an SUV wins if you need all-wheel drive or heavier towing. If you're still weighing the two, the best SUV for families guide covers the SUV side.
Does cargo space change by trim?
No. Every trim has 32.8 cubic feet behind the third row and 86.6 behind the second row. The only difference is the maximum behind the front seats, 155.8 cubic feet on the EX-L and Sport-L and 155.7 on the Touring and Elite.
Should I buy a 2026 Odyssey or wait for the 2027?
Buy a 2026 if you want leather on a lower trim or find a better deal, since the 2027's changes are small. Otherwise the two are nearly identical.
Spend Where Your Family Actually Sits
Start with the EX-L and ask what it's missing. If the answer is rear-seat tech and parking help, step up to the Touring. If it's front-seat comfort and better audio, that's the Elite. The Sport-L is mostly styling.
Pick the first trim that solves a problem you actually have, and skip the rest.
