The Iso Fidia S4 300 shows how differently Iso approached the luxury sedan. Rather than building a conventional executive car, the Italian manufacturer gave its four-door flagship the same performance-minded thinking found in its grand tourers. Italian styling kept the Fidia elegant and understated, while a Chevrolet V8 supplied a distinctly American character beneath the long bonnet. The combination created an unusual luxury car that offered genuine performance without sacrificing the spacious, formal character expected from a four-door flagship.
The 1967–1973 Fidia S4 300 uses a naturally aspirated 5.4-liter Chevrolet 327 V8 producing 300 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 6.8 seconds and top speed reaching 137 mph. Its front-engine layout and De Dion rear axle give the large sedan a sporting mechanical foundation.
