The Iso Fidia S4 340 represents a different side of Iso’s engineering philosophy. Instead of the dramatic two-seat proportions of the Grifo, the Fidia was a full-sized luxury sedan that combined Italian styling with American V8 muscle. Its restrained four-door shape concealed a Ford V8, giving the car the character of a high-performance executive machine rather than a conventional family sedan. The result was an unusual blend of space, comfort and performance, reflecting Iso’s willingness to challenge the established idea of what a luxury car could be.
For 1973–1975, the Fidia S4 340 uses a naturally aspirated 5.8-liter Ford V8 producing 321 hp and 353 lb-ft of torque. A three-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels, while 0–60 mph takes 7.0 seconds and top speed reaches 132 mph. Its front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and De Dion rear suspension give the large sedan a distinctly sporting foundation.
