The Triumph GT6 Mk III represents the later development of Triumph's distinctive British sports coupe, combining a sleek fastback roofline with a compact two-seat cabin. Its long bonnet, enclosed rear section, and purposeful proportions give it a recognisable character, while the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout follows a traditional sports-car formula. Rather than pursuing the size or comfort of a grand tourer, the GT6 focuses on compact construction and the appeal of a six-cylinder powertrain. Its styling and mechanical layout make it a memorable example of early 1970s British sports-car design.
For the 1970–1973 production range, the GT6 uses a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre inline-six producing 104 hp at 5,300 rpm and 117 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. A four-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. AutoSpecsHub records a top speed of 112 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 10.2 seconds. With a curb weight of 2,028 lbs and combined fuel economy of 23.3 mpg, it combines traditional six-cylinder performance with compact sports-coupe proportions.
