The 1976–1979 Lamborghini Silhouette P300 evolved the Urraco’s compact mid-engine sports-car formula into a more distinctive two-seat targa. Its wedge-shaped body, removable roof panel and sharper styling gave it a more sporting character, while the rear-mid-engine layout and lightweight construction retained the mechanical philosophy of Lamborghini’s V8-powered coupes. Based on the Urraco P300, the Silhouette became Lamborghini’s first production model with a removable roof, adding an open-air character to its compact sports-car design.
The 1976–1979 Silhouette P300 uses a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter V8 producing 246 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 6.3 seconds and top speed reaching 161 mph. Its combination of compact weight, rear-wheel drive and rear-mid-engine V8 power gave the Silhouette P300 a focused performance foundation.
