The Talbot Solara LS brought family-sedan space to the brand’s front-wheel-drive range, offering four doors, seating for five and a conventional boot in a straightforward, practical package. Its long wheelbase and relatively generous body dimensions gave it a more substantial road presence than the smaller Samba and Horizon models. Beneath the conservative styling, the Solara retained the mechanical simplicity of the Simca-derived platform, with a longitudinally mounted engine and front-wheel drive.
A naturally aspirated 1,592 cc OHV four-cylinder produces 72 hp at 5,200 rpm and 96 lb·ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. The four-speed manual gearbox keeps the specification uncomplicated, while the engine’s modest output suits relaxed everyday driving rather than sporty performance. Listed for 1982–1983, this LS version represents the standard 1.6-litre configuration of the Solara range.
