The 1989–1992 Austin Maestro Turbo turned an ordinary family hatchback into a remarkably quick performance car. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four produced 150 hp and 172 lb-ft, driving the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. With a 6.5-second 0–60 mph time and a 128 mph top speed, it delivered pace that was unusual for a practical five-door hatchback of its era.
