The Audi V8 3.6 represented Audi’s entry into the upper-luxury sedan market with a restrained design and sophisticated mechanical package. Spanning 1991–1994, it paired a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V8 with quattro all-wheel drive, producing 247 hp and 251 lb-ft. A choice of five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions gave the large sedan different personalities, while its 152-mph top speed and 8.6-second 0–60 mph time provided respectable performance for a luxury car of its era.

Beneath the understated exterior, the V8 featured a longitudinal engine, MacPherson-strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, with ventilated discs at both axles.
