The Audi V8 LWB brought a more spacious interpretation of Audi’s flagship luxury sedan, extending the wheelbase while retaining the understated engineering that defined the V8 range. Covering 1990–1991, it used a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V8 producing 247 hp and 251 lb-ft, paired with a four-speed automatic and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. A 146-mph top speed and 8.8-second 0–60 mph time gave the long-wheelbase sedan respectable performance for a luxury car of its period.

The extra length was aimed at rear-seat comfort, with the LWB measuring 204.3 inches overall and offering 21.5 cubic feet of luggage space. Its chassis combined MacPherson struts at the front with multi-link rear suspension and ventilated disc brakes, while the five-seat cabin reinforced its executive-car purpose. With its discreet styling, V8 power and sophisticated all-wheel-drive layout, the V8 LWB represented Audi’s early attempt to compete at the upper end of the luxury sedan market without relying on flamboyant design.
