The Mantara 400 Spyder gives the Marcos formula an open-air interpretation, combining its distinctive low-slung body with a traditional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. The 1992–1999 roadster has two seats and a five-speed manual transmission, while its relatively lightweight construction keeps the driving experience focused despite the use of a larger V8. MacPherson-strut front suspension and double-wishbone rear suspension provide the chassis foundation, giving this uncommon British roadster a purposeful mechanical character.
Its naturally aspirated 3.9-liter V8 produces 190 hp and 230 lb-ft of torque, sending the car to a 135-mph top speed and from 0–60 mph in 6.2 seconds. At 2,249 lb, the Spyder benefits from a useful power-to-weight ratio, while vented front discs and solid rear discs provide braking control. A 120-liter luggage compartment adds some practicality to the two-seat layout, but the Mantara 400 Spyder remains primarily defined by its unusual styling, open cabin, and traditional V8-powered roadster character.
