The Mantara GTS Coupé takes a different route from the V8-powered Marcos models, pairing the marque’s distinctive low-slung sports-car body with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. For 1993–1999, this two-seat coupé retained a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and five-speed manual transmission, while MacPherson struts at the front and double-wishbone suspension at the rear gave it a purposeful chassis. Its compact proportions and relatively light construction make the GTS an interesting example of how Marcos combined unconventional styling with proven mechanical components.
Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four producing 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. The Mantara GTS reaches 140 mph and accelerates from 0–60 mph in 5.3 seconds, with its 2,161-lb curb weight helping the modestly sized engine deliver lively performance. Vented front discs and solid rear discs provide braking, while 150 liters of luggage capacity add useful practicality to the two-seat layout. The result is a distinctive British sports coupé with a strong balance between performance and everyday usability.
