The Tatra 613-4 continued the marque’s distinctive approach to executive-car engineering, placing an air-cooled V8 behind the passenger compartment rather than beneath a conventional front bonnet. Its four-door saloon body provided accommodation for five, while the rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout gave it a character unlike mainstream European luxury cars. The design evolved from Tatra’s long-running 613 platform, retaining its spacious proportions and unusual mechanical arrangement while serving a market that valued comfort and individual engineering.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3,495 cc V8 producing 166 hp at 5,200 rpm and 199 lb·ft of torque at 3,300 rpm. Two Jikov carburettors supply the engine, which uses a DOHC layout with two valves per cylinder. A four-speed manual gearbox transfers power to the rear wheels. Produced from 1992–1994, the 613-4 represents the carburetted version, distinct from the later fuel-injected 4Mi.
