The Vector M12 marked a dramatic change in direction for the American marque. Developed under Megatech ownership, it replaced the earlier Vector V8 concept with a Lamborghini-derived V12 and a chassis layout influenced by the Diablo. Its wide composite body, low nose and extended rear profile give it an unmistakable supercar presence, while the longitudinal rear-mid-engine installation and rear-wheel drive define its mechanical character. The result is an unusual blend of American design ambition and Italian powertrain engineering.
Produced from 1995–1999, the M12 uses a naturally aspirated 5.7-litre Lamborghini V12 producing 490 hp and 425 lb·ft of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox transfers power to the rear wheels, with a claimed 4.4-second 0–60 mph time and a 190 mph top speed. With only two seats and a listed weight of 3,600 pounds, it remains one of the more distinctive collaborations in 1990s supercar history.
