Few final editions feel as distinctive as the De Tomaso Pantera Si. Rather than simply adding power to the long-running Pantera formula, De Tomaso commissioned Marcello Gandini to reshape the car, giving it sharper bodywork, a prominent rear wing and a more modern aerodynamic character. Beneath the redesigned exterior sits a naturally aspirated 4.9-liter Ford-derived V8 producing 300 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle.
Built from 1990–1993, the Si was also a substantial engineering update. Its revised chassis and double-wishbone suspension were matched with four ventilated disc brakes and wide 17-inch tyres, helping the mid-engine coupe turn its V8 muscle into serious road performance. A 161-mph top speed and 5.2-second 0–60 mph time placed it firmly in supercar territory, while production was limited to just 41 examples. That combination of Gandini styling, Ford V8 power and extremely limited production makes the Si a particularly unusual closing chapter for the Pantera story.
