The TVR Cerbera Speed 12 was an extraordinary attempt to turn a GT racing project into an extreme road-going supercar. Its long bonnet housed a hand-built V12 created by joining two of TVR’s Speed Six engines, while a lightweight structure and rear-wheel drive kept the focus firmly on performance. The dramatic proportions and competition-derived chassis reflected an ambitious goal: to challenge the fastest supercars of its era. However, the finished road car proved too extreme for practical public-road use, and TVR abandoned its planned production run.
The naturally aspirated 7,730 cc V12 is listed with 880 hp at 7,250 rpm and 650 lb·ft of torque at 5,750 rpm. A six-speed manual gearbox sends power to the rear wheels, while double-wishbone suspension is fitted at both ends. The 2000 road-going version remained an exceptionally rare one-off rather than a regular production model, giving the Speed 12 a place among TVR’s most ambitious and unusual engineering projects.
