The Ultima Evolution LS7 applies the British marque’s lightweight, mid-engined philosophy to a road-legal supercar with serious track capability. Its compact two-seat coupe body sits on a tubular spaceframe chassis, while double-wishbone suspension at both ends reflects the car’s competition-influenced engineering. Rather than following the approach of a large-volume manufacturer, Ultima offered the Evolution as a factory-built car or a project owners could assemble themselves, with a choice of Chevrolet V8 powertrains.
This LS7 version uses a naturally aspirated 7.0-litre V8 producing 700 hp at 6,600 rpm and 625 lb·ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. A six-speed manual transaxle sends power to the rear wheels. Ultima quotes 2.6 seconds for 0–60 mph and a 200-plus mph gearing-limited top speed. Introduced in 2015, the Evolution combines exceptional power with a remarkably lightweight construction.
