The Ultima Evolution Convertible LS7 is built around a straightforward performance philosophy: keep the structure light, place a large naturally aspirated V8 behind the cockpit and give the driver direct control through a manual gearbox. Its open-roof format adds a distinctive dimension to the experience, while the rear-mid-engine layout and double-wishbone suspension reflect the car’s competition-inspired engineering. Rather than relying on forced induction, the LS7 delivers its performance through substantial displacement and high-revving character.
Introduced in 2015, this version uses a 7.0-litre General Motors LS7 producing 700 hp and 625 lb·ft of torque. A six-speed manual transaxle sends power to the rear wheels, helping the 2,050-pound Targa reach 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. Ultima quotes a top speed exceeding 200 mph, making this lightweight convertible an unusually focused alternative to more conventional supercars.
