1992–1994 Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake Specs & Performance

The Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake turned one of Aston Martin’s grandest touring cars into something exceptionally rare: a factory-built estate with the character of a traditional V8 GT. For 1992–1994, Aston Martin Works Service transformed the Virage into a three-door, 2+2 shooting brake, retaining its naturally aspirated 5.3-liter V8 and rear-wheel-drive layout. Producing 306 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, the car sent its power through a five-speed manual transmission and could reach 152 mph. Its unusual body added genuine practicality without abandoning the long, low proportions and front-engine character that defined the Virage.

The Shooting Brake was far more than a styling exercise. Its extended roof created substantially more usable space, while the rear seats could fold to provide around 28 cubic feet of luggage capacity. Underneath, double-wishbone front suspension and a De Dion rear axle preserved the sophisticated chassis characteristics expected of an Aston Martin, supported by ventilated disc brakes. Only a handful were built through Works Service, making the Shooting Brake one of the rarest factory-related Virage derivatives. It occupies a fascinating place in Aston Martin history, combining traditional Newport Pagnell craftsmanship with the practicality of an estate while remaining unmistakably a hand-built grand tourer.
