1995, 1996, 1997
MSRP:$1,500 – $3,500
The Rover 100 111 Si brought a practical, better-equipped interpretation of Rover’s compact hatchback range, retaining the short proportions and straightforward styling of the Metro-derived 100 series. Its three-door body and upright cabin made it well suited to urban streets, while seating for five and a rear hatch provided useful everyday versatility. Rather than pursuing a sporting image, the 111 Si focused on accessible motoring, easy manoeuvrability, and uncomplicated mechanical design. Its compact dimensions and modest performance made it a sensible choice for commuting and routine local journeys.
For the 1995–1997 range, the Rover 100 111 Si used a naturally aspirated 1.1-litre inline-four petrol engine with a single overhead camshaft, eight valves, and single-point fuel injection. AutoSpecsHub lists output at 59 hp at 5,700 rpm and torque at 66 lb-ft at 3,900 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission sent power to the front wheels. MacPherson strut front suspension, trailing-arm rear suspension, solid front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes completed the listed chassis setup. The car reached a listed top speed of 96 mph, reflecting its focus on practical everyday driving rather than outright performance.
