The second-generation Daihatsu Sirion 1.3 moved the nameplate into a more mature small-car shape, balancing a compact footprint with a surprisingly capable four-cylinder engine. Its naturally aspirated 1.3-liter unit produces 86 hp at 6,000 rpm and 89 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm, giving the five-door hatchback enough pace for everyday roads without losing its uncomplicated character. Front-wheel drive and the available five-speed manual or four-speed automatic kept the mechanical package familiar and easy to live with.

For its 2005–2008 run, the Sirion also made a stronger case as a practical small hatchback.
