The 2008 KTM X-Bow approached performance with almost no unnecessary weight or conventional sports-car decoration. Its open two-seat body, rear-mid-mounted engine, and extremely low 47.4-inch height made the X-Bow feel closer to a lightweight racing machine than a traditional roadster. With double-wishbone suspension at both ends and a 95.7-inch wheelbase, it focused on direct driver involvement and agility, turning its minimal construction into the defining feature of its character.
For 2008–2012, the X-Bow uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine producing 237 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, helping the 1,742-pound sports roadster reach 137 mph and accelerate from 0–60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Its 30.1 mpg combined economy is particularly notable given the performance, while the rear-mid-engine layout keeps the lightweight package focused on handling.
