The 2011–2013 KTM X-Bow R took the already extreme X-Bow concept and pushed its lightweight performance philosophy further. Developed around a carbon-fiber monocoque and a rear-mid-engine layout, the X-Bow R featured a revised engine installation that lowered the powertrain and center of gravity, while its exposed suspension, open cockpit and minimalist bodywork kept the car closely connected to KTM’s motorsport-inspired approach. With no conventional doors and only two seats, it was designed around low weight, direct responses and driver involvement rather than everyday practicality, making the X-Bow R one of the most focused road-going sports cars of its era.
The 2011–2013 X-Bow R uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four producing 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 3.8 seconds and top speed reaching 144 mph. Weighing just 1,742 pounds, the X-Bow R combines its rear-mid-engine configuration with double-wishbone suspension, a carbon-fiber structure and an exceptionally high power-to-weight ratio. Its compact dimensions and open sports-roadster design further emphasize the lightweight engineering that defines the KTM X-Bow R.
