The Morgan Plus 8 4.8 combines the visual traditions of British sports-car building with the unmistakable character of a large naturally aspirated V8. Its long bonnet, rounded front wings and low open cockpit give it a timeless silhouette, but the car’s aluminium construction and muscular proportions reveal a more modern performance focus. Morgan’s approach is refreshingly individual: rather than concealing the mechanical experience behind layers of technology, the Plus 8 makes its engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and lightweight design central to its appeal. The result is a handcrafted roadster that feels equally suited to a winding country road and a spirited open-road drive, offering a distinctive alternative to more conventional high-performance convertibles.
For 2012–2013, the Plus 8 4.8 uses a naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 producing 362 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels, helping the two-seat convertible reach a claimed top speed of 170 mph. Its 0–60 mph time of 4.4 seconds delivers serious acceleration, while double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension support its focused handling.
