The Triumph Spitfire Mk II continued the appeal of the original British roadster, combining compact proportions with an open two-seat layout and lightweight construction. Its long bonnet, low stance and simple bodywork give it the unmistakable character of a traditional sports car, while the front-mounted engine and rear-wheel-drive arrangement preserve a conventional sporting layout. Rather than focusing on luxury or outright power, the Spitfire offers an uncomplicated driving experience built around its compact dimensions and direct mechanical character.
Produced from 1964–1967, the Spitfire Mk II uses a 1.1-litre naturally aspirated inline-four gasoline engine with an OHV valvetrain and carburetor fuel delivery. It produces 67 hp at 6,000 rpm and 67 lb-ft of torque at 3,760 rpm, paired with a four-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. Its performance includes a 0–60 mph time of 14 seconds and a 96 mph top speed. With seating for two and 6.7 cubic feet of luggage capacity, it retains the practical simplicity of a classic British roadster.
