The Triumph Spitfire Mk IV brought a cleaner, more modern appearance to the British roadster, with revised bodywork giving its compact proportions a distinctive new look. Its long bonnet, low seating position and open two-seat cockpit preserve the traditional appeal of a lightweight sports car, while the simple cabin keeps the driving experience focused and uncomplicated. The rear-wheel-drive layout and compact dimensions make it a particularly interesting example of the affordable British sports cars of its era, prioritising driver involvement over outright performance.
Produced from 1970–1974, the Spitfire Mk IV uses a 1.3-litre naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engine with an OHV valvetrain and carburetor fuel delivery. It produces 59 hp at 6,000 rpm and 69 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm, paired with a four-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. Its performance figures include a 0–60 mph time of 14.5 seconds and a top speed of 93 mph. With seating for two and 6.7 cubic feet of luggage capacity, it retains the practical simplicity expected of a compact roadster.
