The Triumph Spitfire Mk III developed the original roadster formula with revised styling that gave the compact sports car a more purposeful appearance. Its long bonnet, low stance and open two-seat cockpit preserve the lightweight character of the Spitfire range, while the traditional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive arrangement keeps the driving experience focused on simplicity and driver involvement. Rather than relying on outright power, this British sports car delivers its appeal through compact dimensions, straightforward engineering and an engaging manual driving experience.
Produced from 1967–1970, the Spitfire Mk III uses a 1.3-litre naturally aspirated inline-four gasoline engine featuring an OHV valvetrain and carburetor fuel delivery. It produces 75 hp at 6,000 rpm and 75 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, paired with a four-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. Its performance includes a 0–60 mph time of 12.5 seconds and a 100 mph top speed. With seating for two and 6.7 cubic feet of luggage capacity, it retains the practical simplicity expected of a classic roadster.
