The Triumph TR7 Coupé brought a strikingly modern appearance to the British sports-car market, replacing traditional rounded roadster proportions with a sharp, wedge-shaped profile. Its angular bodywork, low front end and retractable headlights give it a distinctive identity, while the compact two-seat cabin keeps the emphasis on driving. A front-mounted engine sends power to the rear wheels, with MacPherson strut front suspension and a live rear axle providing a straightforward mechanical layout.
Produced from 1977–1980, the TR7 Coupé uses a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated Slant-4 inline-four engine, featuring a SOHC valvetrain and carburetor fuel delivery. It develops 105 hp at 5,500 rpm and 119 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm. Buyers could choose a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission. Performance figures include a 0–60 mph time of 9.2 seconds and a 110 mph top speed. With 9.9 cubic feet of luggage space, the coupé also offers useful practicality for a compact sports car.
