The Triumph TR7 Convertible gave the wedge-shaped TR7 a more open character, pairing angular bodywork and retractable headlights with a folding soft top. Its low nose and compact two-seat layout retain the model’s distinctive design, while the open cabin brings a closer connection to the road. A front-mounted engine drives the rear wheels, supported by MacPherson strut front suspension and a live rear axle.
Produced from 1979–1981, it uses a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated Slant-4 inline-four with SOHC valvetrain and carburetor fuel delivery. It produces 105 hp at 5,500 rpm and 119 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm, paired with a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 60 mph in 9.5 seconds and has a 108 mph top speed. Seating for two and 8.5 cubic feet of luggage space add everyday usefulness.
