The TVR S Series S Convertible introduced a compact British roadster with a traditional front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Its long bonnet, low windscreen and two-seat cockpit give it a purposeful sports-car profile, while the relatively narrow body keeps its proportions distinctive. Double-wishbone front suspension and semi-trailing-arm rear suspension form the chassis arrangement, complemented by vented front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. A five-speed manual gearbox completes its straightforward mechanical character.
Produced from 1987–1989, this version uses a 2.8-litre naturally aspirated V6 with an OHV valvetrain, 12 valves and single-point fuel injection. It produces 148 hp at 5,700 rpm and 165 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm, with power delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. AutoSpecsHub lists a 0–60 mph time of 6.8 seconds and a 133 mph top speed. The two-seat convertible provides 8.1 cubic feet of luggage space.
