The Pontiac Firebird 3.4 V6 Convertible brought a relaxed, open-air character to the fourth-generation Firebird lineup. Its sweeping bodywork, low nose, and long hood preserved the dramatic proportions of an American sports car, while the folding roof made it especially appealing for scenic drives and warm-weather cruising. Unlike the more aggressive V8 versions, the V6 convertible offered a more accessible way to enjoy Pontiac’s distinctive styling. Its four-seat layout and rear-wheel-drive configuration retained the familiar Firebird character without sacrificing the appeal of a comfortable weekend cruiser.
For 1995–1996, the Firebird Convertible used a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter V6 producing 160 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Power reached the rear wheels through a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, giving buyers a choice between hands-on driving and relaxed convenience. The combination of a conventional drivetrain, open cabin, and compact rear seating made it well suited to leisure driving. Rather than focusing solely on outright speed, this Firebird emphasized the enjoyment of traditional American sports-car styling with the added freedom of open-top motoring.
