The 1990–1992 Marcos Mantula 3.9 V8 Coupé represents the more powerful end of the Mantula range, pairing the marque’s distinctive low-slung sports-coupé shape with a larger Rover V8. Its front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration and two-seat cabin keep the car firmly rooted in traditional British sports-car engineering, while double-wishbone suspension at both ends gives the chassis a purposeful foundation. The result is an uncommon performance coupe whose appeal comes from its combination of compact proportions, mechanical simplicity, and V8 character.
Displacing 3.9 liters, the naturally aspirated V8 produces 195 hp and 235 lb-ft of torque, working through a five-speed manual transmission. With a curb weight of 2,072 lb, the Mantula reaches 145 mph and accelerates from 0–60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Vented front discs and solid rear discs provide the stopping power, while the lightweight construction helps the available V8 output translate into strong performance. Its unusual styling and relatively scarce presence further distinguish this version within the Marcos lineup.
