The TVR Griffith 4.0i takes a traditional approach to British sports-car design, combining a low-slung convertible body with a long bonnet and compact two-seat cabin. Its front-mounted V8 drives the rear wheels, while double-wishbone suspension at both ends provides the foundation for its focused chassis. The lightweight construction and five-speed manual transmission reinforce its direct, driver-oriented character, making open-air performance the central part of the Griffith experience.
For 1991–1993, this version uses a 3.9-litre naturally aspirated V8 with an OHV valvetrain and single-point fuel injection. It produces 225 hp at 5,500 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Power is delivered through a five-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. AutoSpecsHub lists a 0–60 mph time of 5.6 seconds and a 146 mph top speed. Despite its compact two-seat layout, the convertible provides 8.8 cubic feet of luggage space.
