The TVR Griffith 500 is a compact British sports convertible whose appeal lies in its low-slung proportions, flowing bodywork and direct, driver-focused character. Its folding roof and two-seat cabin create an intimate open-air experience, while the front-mounted V8 and rear-wheel-drive layout give it a traditional performance-car configuration. Double-wishbone suspension at both ends supports its sporting intent, and the restrained roadster shape keeps the emphasis on the driving experience rather than excess equipment.
Produced from 1999–2002, the Griffith 500 uses a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 featuring an OHV valvetrain, 16 valves and multi-point fuel injection. It develops 316 hp at 5,500 rpm and 320 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, matched to a five-speed manual transmission. It records a 0–60 mph time of 4.0 seconds and a 167 mph top speed. Despite its compact two-seat layout, the convertible offers 10.9 cubic feet of luggage space.
