The TVR Chimaera 4.0 is a British sports convertible that combines traditional roadster styling with the character of a naturally aspirated V8. Its long bonnet, low stance and flowing bodywork give it a purposeful appearance, while the folding soft top creates an open-air driving experience. The two-seat cabin keeps the focus on the driver, and the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration preserves a classic sports-car layout. Double-wishbone suspension at both ends supports its sporting character and provides a purposeful mechanical foundation.
Produced from 1995–1999, the Chimaera 4.0 uses a 3.9-litre naturally aspirated V8 gasoline engine with an OHV valvetrain, 16 valves and multi-point fuel injection. It produces 237 hp at 5,250 rpm and 276 lb-ft of torque at 3,850 rpm, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Power reaches the rear wheels, delivering a 0–60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a 149 mph top speed. With seating for two and 10.9 cubic feet of luggage capacity, it combines sporting performance with the appeal of open-top motoring.
