The TVR Chimaera 500 is a British sports convertible built around a large-capacity V8 and a traditional roadster layout. Its long bonnet, low stance and flowing bodywork create a purposeful presence, while the folding soft top opens the two-seat cabin to the elements. Double-wishbone suspension at both ends and a front-mounted engine driving the rear wheels underline its performance-focused engineering. Its appeal centres on direct mechanical character and naturally aspirated power.
Produced from 1995–1999, the Chimaera 500 uses a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, an OHV valvetrain and multi-point fuel injection. It produces 335 hp at 5,250 rpm and 355 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. AutoSpecsHub lists a 0–60 mph time of 4.0 seconds and a 168 mph top speed. The convertible also provides 10.9 cubic feet of luggage space.
