The Alpina B12 6.0 represents a distinctive performance interpretation of the BMW 7 Series, combining the refinement of an executive luxury sedan with the character of a specially developed V12 powertrain. Based on the E38 generation, it retains the understated styling, spacious four-door cabin, and long-distance comfort associated with BMW's flagship saloon. Alpina's engineering gives it a more performance-focused identity, while the rear-wheel-drive layout preserves the traditional grand touring character of a large luxury car. Its rarity and substantial naturally aspirated engine make it a particularly distinctive member of the E38 family.
For the 1999–2001 model range, the B12 6.0 uses a naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 producing 424 hp at 5,600 rpm and 443 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. A five-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. AutoSpecsHub lists a top speed of 181 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. Its listed curb weight is 4,431 lbs, combined fuel economy is 15.2 mpg, and luggage capacity is 17.7 cubic feet.
