1987–1993 Alpina 7 Series B11 3.5 Specs & Performance

The 1987–1993 Alpina 7 Series B11 3.5 marked ALPINA's first interpretation of the E32 7 Series, giving BMW's new luxury sedan a distinctly more sporting character. Its naturally aspirated 3.4-liter inline-six was developed from BMW's six-cylinder engine and tuned to deliver 251 hp and 325 Nm, while a five-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive kept the experience engaging. ALPINA also revised the suspension and chassis to give the large sedan sharper responses without undermining its ability to cover long distances in comfort.

What makes the B11 3.5 particularly interesting is its restraint. Rather than turning the 7 Series into an overt sports sedan, ALPINA combined subtle exterior details with carefully developed mechanical upgrades and a more focused driving character. With a top speed of 152 mph and 0–60 mph in about 7.4 seconds, it was genuinely quick for its period while retaining the refinement expected of an E32. The result was an understated performance sedan that established the B11 name as an important part of ALPINA's later 7 Series history.
